Cottage Lea's Country Hotel & Restaurant

We only needed somewhere to stay after riding the NYMR steam train from Pickering, but this lovely place gave us much more than we expected. The team made us feel like part of the family right away. Our room was spacious, clean and very comfortable, the restaurant food was delicious, especially breakfast, and the setting was peaceful and relaxing. We’ll definitely come back.

I was here for work, but I’m glad I brought my partner along. It turned into a lovely little getaway because we enjoyed it so much. The entrance had a gorgeous boutique-like feel and a lovely scent. It’s a peaceful, quiet place, and seeing the animals around was a bonus, especially the sweetest cats I’ve met in a while.

We booked at the last minute for a weekend and arrived in the early evening just in time for dinner. Everyone made us feel so welcome, and we were quickly shown to our room. It was warm, clean and comfortable. Dinner was all freshly cooked, and the portions were huge. Afterwards, we had a few drinks in the cosy, well-stocked bar, where prices were reasonable and a log burner made it welcoming. It’s a family-run hotel with a fantastic atmosphere, and everyone pitches in, including 3-year-old Marne (I hope I’ve got the spelling right), who kept us entertained with her dancing and toys. Thanks for a lovely weekend. We’ll definitely return, and hope to come back soon for Sunday lunch.

A lovely spot in the country, and the restaurant meal was excellent, all home cooked. Becky looked after us so well that she’s become a friend, and we fell in love with Bella the dog. Highly recommend.
