Breakfast was really good, and the building’s old character made the stay feel special. The creaky floorboards did mean we could hear people moving around in the room above, so I’d ask for a top-floor room next time. We booked two rooms for three nights, and both were clean and tidied every day. The area was quiet, with several good restaurants nearby, and getting around by taxi was easy. Everyone at reception was friendly and helpful; the gentleman who checked us in even carried one of our bags upstairs. There’s no lift, but that wasn’t an issue for us. We had a great stay and would come back.

The wizard room I stayed in was comfortable, with a few charming magic-themed decorations. I’m not sure what the HP references are about: it’s clearly wizard-themed, but doesn’t seem directly connected to the famous Warner Bros films. This is a quirky guest house rather than a high-end hotel, and the rooms are all different sizes and styles, so I’d look for a lower price or a deal. I’ve stayed three times for business and found the rooms clean and comfortable each time. The staff are friendly and helpful, though service can be slow with just one person at the desk, and it isn’t always obvious who’s staff. It’s close to Victoria and a short walk from Pimlico tube, which makes it handy for tourists. I’ll be back.

The breakfast was a treat, with dishes from the menu as well as a small buffet, and the staff took care of little things that made our stay easier. We stayed in the wizard room, which was beautiful. Victoria station was less than a ten-minute walk away, with direct connections to Euston and LGW. It felt like staying in a Fairmont, but at a really reasonable price. I’d definitely recommend it.

We were close to Vic Station and the Vic Bus depot, which was very convenient. I booked at the last minute because I wasn’t sure whether I’d be in London for one or two nights, so the price was a little high. I paid for a triple, with a double for Mum and a single for me, but the room had been set up as a double. Reception and housekeeping sorted it quickly and satisfactorily. The bed was comfy, and the tea, coffee and biscuits were good. The room was fine for an old traditional house hotel, though there’s no lift and some of the stairs are a bit worn. Mum liked the shower; it was only okay for me, perhaps because the water tank was low. When we came back, it was hot again. Breakfast was very good. We had the continental option, and the cooked food looked and smelled good too.

My family and I got a lovely welcome and were treated like VIPs. After a short wait in the lounge, staff led us through a secret bookcase and down candlelit stairs to a Harry Potter themed room. Both my daughters loved it straight away. The staff were happy and very good, and the beds were so comfortable that both my daughters slept really well. Breakfast was good and there was more than enough.
