Stayed 14-16 Feb 2026. We especially appreciated the friendly, welcoming staff, the on-site parking, and the great location for the Barbican, Hoe, theatre, and shopping. Breakfast was excellent and the room was super. Drakes Hotel was excellent, and we'll definitely stay again. If you book directly with the hotel, you may be able to reserve a parking space. That saves £16.50 per 24 hours on-street parking. Most hotels in this area don't provide parking. Well done, and thank you.
We had a lovely one-night stay. Our Deluxe kingsize room was in the basement, but it felt modern, immaculate, airy, and spacious. The bed and bedding were comfortable, the shower was fantastic, and the tea and coffee tray was well stocked. Breakfast had a great choice of continental options as well as cooked food, and we ordered it the night before. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our only niggle was the tiny tea cups and the bathroom window, which had no curtain or blind for privacy. It was frosted, but at night with the light on, the rooms and apartments at the back might be able to see in.
The family room was lovely, clean, and spacious enough for all four of us. The lady who welcomed us was so friendly and couldn't do enough for us and our children. We had a lovely one-night stay, with a perfect location for our trip to the Aquarium and Winter Wonderland. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, cooked to order. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
We had a lovely weekend, and Amy made it even better. She was welcoming, helpful, and funny, and it felt like being greeted by an old friend. She's a real credit to the hotel. We'll definitely come back to see Amy again. Give that lady a pay rise! 👍👍👍
The breakfast was delicious, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is centrally located in Plymouth, close to the famous Hoe and Barbican. If the parking arrangements were clearer and the electrics more reliable, I'd recommend it. As things stand, I'd avoid. We stayed for two nights over the 2025 Christmas break. It's an old hotel with dated fixtures and fittings. The power went out on the second night, and the double mattress in the family room needs replacing. The shower pressure was poor but adequate. The bathroom extractor fan was so noisy it woke us at 2am, before we figured out which button was the isolator switch. The heaters were turned right down, so it was cold until we adjusted them. Parking could be difficult if the hotel is full. We tried three times to reserve a space without success, then arrived to find cones marking out spaces reserved for other people. When I asked about it, I was told we could reserve a space with a blue badge and might have a better chance next time if we booked direct.
