The staff made this stay for us. They were friendly, easy to chat with and incredibly helpful, especially the two waitresses who kindly helped my wife with her food when she wasn’t feeling well. We spent two nights in a spacious executive suite at a great price, with a lovely view over the harbour and beyond. Breakfast was fantastic, dinner was just as good, and the reception lounge felt warm and cosy. We’ll certainly be back. Thanks again, folks!

The hotel had a really relaxing, charming feel, just right for a peaceful break. My room stayed clean and comfortable, and the staff were welcoming and quick to help whenever needed. The setting is stunning, with beautiful views that made the visit feel special. I’d happily come back and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

The restaurant meal was good and reasonably priced: I had steak pie for £18.95, and my dining partner chose Hunters Chicken for £16.95. We never did get the desserts, which were around £8 and reasonable by today's prices. The young staff were attentive, though we missed the pudding course and my requested chips were replaced with mash. The hotel keeps many of its original features and is very well maintained. Our double room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and the sea view was lovely. In 2025 it cost £126, with parking another £6.50. Street parking was free, so that was the better choice. The hotel dates to 1905 and was extended in 1907. Back in the Victorian age, if you had money, this was the place to stay. It sits high above Portpatrick, looking out over the Harbour and the Irish coast, including the hills around Donaghadee. Would we stay again? Yes. It’s dog friendly and has a dining room for people with their dogs. We left ours at home this time, but he’ll come next visit.

Jodie, Ryan and the rest of the team worked hard to look after our group during our three night stay. They were friendly and nothing seemed too much trouble. The hotel was clean and warm, and the food was excellent. Some guests felt the hotel was short staffed and restaurant service was slow. With two coach parties as well as private guests to cater for, I thought the staff handled things extremely well and kept working to make our stay pleasant, enjoyable and memorable. We spent Hogmany at The Portpatrick Hotel, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book there again. It would be my first choice when visiting the West Coast of Scotland. Thank you!

We had a lovely sea view from our clean room. The windows could have been cleaner, though we were there a few days after a storm, so that may have been the reason. Every staff member was friendly and went above and beyond, and several shared tips on places to eat and shop. We arrived a couple of minutes before dinner service ended, delayed a little and unaware of the food times. The staff still let us have dinner and gave us plenty of time to eat. We’d come under difficult circumstances, but they made the visit enjoyable and helped us unwind from the stress. I thoroughly enjoyed the stay and would love to return when things are better.
