Keppels Head Hotel

Breakfast was top notch, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is fantastic, just across the road from the bus and train stations and Gunwharf Quays. The room was a little dated, but clean and tidy, with everything you need. It was very reasonably priced, and I'd definitely return.

My room was disappointing this time. The bed was uncomfortable, and because the room backed onto a fire escape, the rain made a lot of noise. I also had to report that the toilet was leaking onto the floor. The man at reception didn't know what to do and just put towels over the water. It seemed all right in the morning, but using the toilet made the bathroom flood again. Breakfast was pretty poor too. I chose the hotel because it's in a great location near the station. I've stayed before and knew it was dated, which was fine, but this visit wasn't as good.

We'd booked this budget hotel because we needed to catch an early bus and weren't expecting much. We were pleasantly surprised: the staff were friendly, and our room and lovely en suite were immaculate and very clean. They even offered us a packed breakfast since we were leaving before breakfast service started. I'm glad we booked, and it's very convenient for both bus and train services.

The room was functional and OK, but a bit run down and in need of some care. Breakfast wasn't good, though that didn't ruin the stay because we found a lovely cafe in Gunwharf instead. The location is perfect for exploring Portsmouth, with free parking as a big plus. You can walk to some good pubs in Old Portsmouth and to Gunwharf Quays.
