The location worked well for visiting some beautiful beaches, and although I was initially concerned about construction behind the hotel, I couldn’t hear it with the patio doors shut. I stayed with my two dogs, who were warmly welcomed. Our ground-floor room was spacious enough that I wasn’t constantly stepping around them, and housekeeping came in each day; you’d never have guessed dogs had been there afterward. The staff were friendly and courteous, and the food was fantastic, with a good choice on the menu. It was a lovely stay, and I’d happily recommend it.

The party was well organised, and the food was lovely. We were in the smaller room, with our own disco and dance floor, which suited the party size, though I think the upstairs main room is better. There was plenty of alcohol-fuelled dancing. The staff did a great job, and it was a lovely night at Penventon. We stayed in room 8, overlooking the car park. It was compact and comfortable, with an iron and board, hair dryer, tea and coffee, and a bottle of spring water each. The bath suited my other half, and the shower was amazing. Sound carried through the wall from the next room, though, so be aware. The spa is dated but fine for the price if you’re not staying. The pool, jacuzzi and sauna were all fine. A lovely hotel and event venue. Thank you Penventon for a good night.

The hotel has a charm of its own, even if its elegance feels a little put on. It’s in a handy spot for exploring Cornwall, and there’s a good-sized car park. Every staff member provided excellent service and seemed keen to please. Breakfast was top quality and cooked the way you asked. I’d definitely stay again on a visit to Cornwall.

I’ve used the spa and restaurant regularly since 2022. Yesterday, Sunday 22 Feb, I went to the restaurant to celebrate “24 year in Redruth” and ordered cream tea. I watched the staff serve local guests at the next table with great courtesy, respect and professionalism. I expected the same five-star service, but my order arrived in a greasy-spoon sort of manner, casual and clumsy, and was missing items. It felt exceptionally disrespectful, unlike the service the locals received. Please don’t ask how I feel. I’ve survived Redruth for 24 years, but I shouldn’t have to face such low expectations at the Penventon. The restaurant staff’s lack of care spoiled my celebration. Guests who weren’t born locally should get the same standard of service as local people. The Penventon is an oasis of civilisation in Redruth, and that kind of staff behaviour shouldn’t happen there. Enough said.
