The Bridge House Hotel

The room smelled strongly of fresh paint, to the point that my eyes were itchy and watering, and getting to sleep was difficult. It also clearly hadn't been cleaned. There was loud wedding music until midnight, so when we tried speaking to reception, the staff member could barely hear us. We just put up with it for the one night. Parking was also almost nonexistent when we arrived. Wouldn't recommend this place.

I'm a local taxi driver. I collected a hotel customer for a 5 a.m. booking after being assigned the job, and later received a £120 PCN, reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days. I appealed with the relevant details, proof that I'm a taxi driver, and the job information, but a few days later they rejected it and asked me to pay a reduced amount of £20. The hotel's parking is handled by a third party, but in a situation like this they still leave it as your responsibility. This place is a real joke. The ticket gave me an idea of the hotel's quality and service. I hope they don't do this to someone else.

We've stayed in several rooms, and each had its own issue: missing towels or shower gel, a bathroom door that wouldn't shut, a leaking waste pipe, noisy guests, or music blasting from the restaurant. The restaurant menu was entirely in Romanian, with no English. The rooms were pretty grubby too. Some reception staff didn't seem to know how to check guests in or charge correctly, and paying for late checkout didn't stop them knocking to make us leave. Poor service and management have put us off coming back.

I had a basic single room, which was fine, but the bathroom light wouldn't switch off. Closing the door kept most of it out, though light still came through, and the switch itself was exposed but usable. There was a party downstairs, which was okay, but the music kept banging until around 1 p.m. They should think about the other guests.
