I barely slept because they had a generator running outside, and I couldn't tell what it was for. The bathroom extractor didn't work, so the bedroom windows steamed up. The sink's hot tap was loose and didn't work. I reported it and was told someone would look within 30 minutes, but an hour later nobody had come, and it stayed broken for our whole visit. The room looked grubby. There were stains on the carpet and beside the bed, the fridge was dirty and brown inside, and there were water marks on the ceiling from an old leak. The pillows or quilt smelled musty, and I didn't dare check the mattress. The furniture was dated, with wardrobe and cupboard doors missing. The downstairs kitchen didn't look clean either, and there was food residue on the bin lid in the corridor. I wouldn't recommend staying here or come back.

The thin walls were a real problem. You could hear everything next door, and at 6.30am on Sunday a man woke us by banging on the neighbouring door and shouting the F and C word. Completely unacceptable. The room was tired, shabby and badly outdated, with old furniture that looked overdue for replacement. Cleanliness was poor too: hairs on the bedding, dirty stained carpets and a general sense that the place wasn't being maintained. The bathroom had a loose tap leaking onto the floor and a flickering light. The online photos barely resembled what we found. For the price, it was poor value and far below what the pictures suggest. It makes a Travelodge look like a luxury 5 * hotel. I wouldn't stay again or recommend it.

I've had a great stay and still have tomorrow night to go, so I've booked an extra night. The bed is comfortable, and I slept really well. The new owners, who took over six months ago, are so friendly and welcoming. They couldn't have done more to make sure I was comfortable and relaxed. The menu is limited, but every meal is freshly made and very tasty. There's a courtyard outside with a heater, so you can stay warm in cold weather. The front says it's the old police station, and the owner showed me the old cells. They plan to turn one into a private dining room. The function room is beautiful, with murals on the walls. You can park on the road outside or use a car park around the corner. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

For value, this is a great place to stay, and we paid just 48 quid for the room. The menu is still very limited because they're newly established, so don't expect pie or fish and chips, though there are other places nearby for those. If you trust a recommendation, you'll like it. The staff were welcoming from the moment we arrived, and the service was impeccable. The beds were comfortable, the bathrooms top quality, and the place very clean. Prices are unbeatable too. We stayed on Sunday the 3rd of August and were pleasantly surprised. At around 9pm I mentioned to a staff member how good the restaurant smelled. He said it was Kashmir style chicken and offered to make me one. I initially said no because it was late, but he insisted it was no trouble. I'd already snacked earlier, but decided to try it. It was fresh, delicious and full of flavour.

The whole layout feels so inviting, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. We were impressed with how clean it was, the comfortable beds and the lovely hot showers. We'll definitely stay again next time we're in the area.
