Trivelles Hotel Manchester - Cross Lane

I booked because the hotel was cheap and I was attending a Friday night event. The few parking spaces seemed fine when I arrived after dark, and check-in went smoothly. But the room smelled like it had been cleaned with out-of-date products, the place felt old, and the furniture was dusty. There were several dead and live spiders in the bathroom ceiling corners. The bathroom was tiny, with hardly room to move around or do much of anything. We were only there for the event, so at least we didn’t have to stay long. A few weeks later I got hit with a £100 parking fine for using the hotel car park. Booking sites say FREE PRIVATE PARKING. ParkMaven rejected my appeal, saying they couldn’t verify my stay and my vehicle wasn’t on the “site whitelist.” They also said signs about payment were posted around the car park. But it was dark, and I thought parking was free based on the booking information, so I had no reason to look around for signs. The person who checked us in never mentioned parking charges or asking for my registration. There wasn’t a machine, iPad, or anything else to enter it. Reception was empty when we left for the event Friday evening, and still empty when we went home Saturday morning. For a one-night stay, it might look like a cheap deal, but I’d spend extra on a decent night’s sleep and a nicer hotel. This one charged me £100 for parking without payment, even though the hotel listing said it was FREE.

The two-person bed is so small it’s not suitable for two adults, and the furniture is damaged. The rooms were filthy, and the hotel feels very outdated. I know they don’t claim to be a 3* hotel, but the price is in the 3* range, so that’s what I’m comparing it with in this city.

They wouldn’t refund us after we complained, even though the third-party booking site tried to get the money back for us. There was no refundable booking option. The beds were dirty, the bathrooms hadn’t been properly cleaned, and customer service was poor. Awful hotel, avoid it.
