The rooms were generally spacious and clean, though I had to ask for cleaning because it hadn’t been done automatically. Breakfast was satisfactory, but on the first morning the plates weren’t warm, so the food cooled quickly. There was only one drinks station, which led to quite long queues. Before we arrived, we asked for help and were told suitable ground-floor rooms had been reserved. At check-in, we were told there’d been no communication with Scarborough and we had to take first-floor rooms instead. I reported the lack of hot water in room 140 twice, once to housekeeping and once to reception, but as far as I know nothing was done. On our last morning, the shower had no hot water either.

This Premier is in a great spot, with good secure parking opposite at Palm Court for £12 per 24 hours. The TV in our room wasn’t working, but it didn’t bother us so I didn’t report it. The free coffee in the room is terrible.

We stayed from Friday 6 March through Monday 9 March 2026 in a Premier Plus room. My wife wanted to visit Whitby, where Dracula came to life from. Beforehand, I spoke with Kaitlin, who put us in a room with a great view of the sea and the Grand hotel for my wife’s birthday. She also decorated it with a birthday sign and balloon and left a complimentary bottle of wine. I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet you in person, Kaitlin, but a massive thank you! You’re a credit to your team and to Premier inn. Kind regards from Sean and Elisabeth.

The room was comfortable and reliable, and the staff were friendly and efficient. It’s a convenient hotel for one night, and I often pick Premier Inn because they always take bikes. We had two e-bikes, and this was the first place that asked us to leave the batteries at reception. I’m not sure why, apart from all the misinformation about spontaneous fires from illegal setups. The hotel feels like a labyrinth between reception and the bar and dining area. There are plenty of good breakfast options on the pedestrianised Street outside, closer than the PI restaurant.

The location is great. It’s quiet at night, with the town below silent late on, and only a few minutes from a beach view. It wasn’t very pricey, and at first the rooms looked decently clean, though I later had doubts about that. The main reason for my low rating is that I was itchy through the night. The room felt stuffy and dry, but without the air con it was too hot to sleep. My partner slept okay, so maybe it’s just me and my sensitive skin. I’ve never had this problem elsewhere. It could have been the detergent, or dust from the HVAC or air conditioning. I also had sinus issues, and I can’t tell what caused them, but it isn’t worth the risk. I won’t return to this Premier or any Premier. When my partner went to reception to ask if anything could be done, the receptionist was apparently very rude and asked, “What do you want me to do about it?” He mentioned I have a disability, and she apparently replied, “In that case...” That made the problem feel even worse. If someone says the room is causing issues or asks for fresh sheets, there should be another option. It seems an oversight not to have sheets washed with a different detergent, or hypoallergenic ones. If they do have those, the response was even more inadequate. The whole interaction left me uncomfortable. The ultimate WiFi also felt like a rip-off. We paid £15 for three vouchers for three nights, thinking we could share them, but it turned out to be one voucher per person. That wasn’t mentioned anywhere on the booking. Honestly, this was worse than my experience at Ibis.
