For this price range, I’d give it five stars. My room was comfortable, quiet, bright and airy, with sturdy furniture. It even looked out over fields where wild deer came to visit. Backed by the Wyndham group, it’s ideal for a stop on a journey.

The bed was comfy, and there was tea and coffee in the room. The furniture’s dated and there was a big chip in the bath. Typical Days Inn, high prices and low quality, really.

I left feeling extremely distressed and struggling to drive. I’d stopped at the hotel to get enough rest to carry on my journey, but instead had a really shocking and dreadful experience. A cleaner barged into my room while I was using the bathroom, even though I still had my key card. When I went to reception to complain, the same woman intercepted me. Rather than finding someone senior for me to speak with, she argued about what happened, called me names, leaned forward as if to touch me, then screamed when I flinched back. I was calmly trying to explain that, because of certain disabilities, being surprised and shocked like that could have serious consequences. I hadn’t raised my voice. She called me rude and arrogant. When projecting and yelling didn’t work, she pretended to cry, then stormed off in a temper. I was promised a call from a manager by today, but it never came.

The rooms are basic, but clean, tidy and well equipped. The price was good, and the location worked well for exploring Somerset. The receptionist was lovely, welcoming and very helpful.
