We paid a little extra for a balcony room, and loved sitting out with a drink at sunset and watching the sunrise each morning. The view was stunning. We were there for three nights and had a wonderful time, just a short walk from Shanklin's amenities. We'll definitely be back next year, hopefully sooner if I can find the time. The staff were polite, efficient and welcoming. Room service was excellent, and the pool was just the right size for swimming lengths every day. Breakfast was plentiful, with plenty of choice, and always came promptly. The owners were staying there with their young family. J the inventor greeted us, and his personality made a perfect welcome. S the horticulturist was always smiling, and little A made us laugh with her daredevil antics.

We loved the spacious balcony room at The Havelock, with its partial sea view and plenty of room for clothes and suitcases. It was worth the extra cost to watch the sun rise and set. The room was kept immaculate, with towels replaced each day while we were at breakfast. We also appreciated the little comforts, especially the large soft bath sheets and hand towels that were actually a decent size. Vicky and Paul were super friendly, made us feel very welcome, and were always around with advice and recommendations if we wanted them. Breakfast was delicious and perfectly cooked every morning, a great start before exploring the island. We’ve just come back from a lovely five-night stay, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Havelock, about a five-minute walk from the Shanklin seafront.

The location is great, and we made good use of the lovely pool several times. Private parking was very handy, too. Paul & Vicky are brilliant hosts, hardworking and lovely, and they know the area well. Nothing seems too much trouble for them. Their 3 girls are adorable, funny, entertaining and very well behaved. The rooms were spotless and well presented, with everything we needed. Breakfast was excellent, and the waitresses were pleasant and did a great job. We also liked relaxing in the bar area at the start or end of the evening. We’ve just returned from our first stay at The Havelock and are already looking forward to going back. We loved the view of the sea from our windows, and the location right beside the stunning beach and lovely seafront was perfect. The atmosphere was warm, the hosts really nice, and the bar friendly. Our room was great, and it was lovely coming back to find it immaculate each day.

Vicky and Paul were so welcoming and friendly, and went out of their way to help with anything. We met Vicky's parents on Monday evening, and they were fab too. The Havelock in Shanklin had everything we needed and more: spotless rooms, beautiful decor, a delicious breakfast with plenty of choice, and a fabulous location. We’ve just returned from a fantastic stay and can’t thank them enough for their hospitality.
