I really appreciated how quiet the stay was, and parking was easy to access. The only letdown in the room was poor TV reception. It was small but cosy and very clean, with a comfortable bed and heating and air-conditioning that were easy to use. It had everything we needed, including an iron, ironing board, hair dryer and soft fluffy towels. The historic hotel has beautiful features, and the festive decorations made it feel extra special. Reception gave us a warm, friendly welcome, and complimentary water and fruit were available in the reception area. The £50 taken from my card on arrival was disappointing. I understand why they do it, but it's inconvenient that it still hadn't gone back onto my card the day after check-out. I was then told it could take 3-5 business days. Even with that deposit delay, it was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay.

Parking was plentiful, and the hotel covered the cost. Staff were lovely and very efficient. The building itself is stunning, with a grand feel that would suit weddings and balls. Our basic room felt a little cramped and small, and its bathroom had no fan. I knew we had one of the basic rooms, but it was still a bit disappointing compared with the grandeur of the rest of the place.

The wedding ceremony space was nicely set up, though there were noticeable cobwebs on the chandeliers. The wedding breakfast was good, but I wasn't keen on the later buffet, especially the mustard sausages and pizza, which were undercooked for my liking. We were at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sheffield as part of a wedding party on Saturday. We paid £250 for two nights. The room was nicely furnished but felt small for that price. The bed was a little hard, though the soft bedding and extra pillows in different firmnesses were a nice touch. The air conditioning didn't work, which made the room uncomfortable at times. We bought a fan, and also opened the window. That would usually turn off the AC, but since it wasn't working, it made no difference. The bathroom felt cramped for two people getting ready together. The bath was a decent size, but the shower was compact and the water pressure weak. Standard shampoo, conditioner and shower gel were provided. Housekeeping came around 2pm, after we'd been out from 9am to 1:30pm. When we asked them to come back in 30 minutes, they said no, which was disappointing. The room was generally clean, but had some cobwebs and dust, and the shower wasn't quite clean. We didn't raise these issues with staff because we were only there for two nights. The hotel has decent facilities and the stay was comfortable enough, but attention to detail and maintenance could be better for its standard and price.

The breakfast was lovely. I thanked the female chef for making it so well, and she said you're welcome. I wonder how often guests thank the chef. The car park is another plus: there's ample space beside the hotel, which I couldn't find mentioned clearly in other reviews. A nice scent greets you when you enter, but by the second day it felt overpowering, too strong and sickly. On the first night we heard several loud bangs and thought inconsiderate neighbours were slamming doors, shaking our room for a few seconds. The next night we realised it was the air conditioning. As other reviews say, it's noisy, sometimes very loud, and can sound like the motor is crashing. The shower was hot but had barely any pressure. I joked with the kids that I could wee harder than it. At breakfast one morning, the couple ahead of us were asked if they'd like a pot of tea or coffee for their table. When it was our turn, the waiter said it was all self-service and moved on. I had to turn back and ask for tea for two, and it seemed like too much trouble. He then asked the guests behind us if they'd like tea or coffee. That difference in treatment annoyed me. Later, while I was with my child choosing a pastry, she changed her mind and wanted toast. As I turned to the bread box, another male waiter cut in rather rudely, without saying excuse me or showing any manners. He seemed rushed, but that wasn't an excuse. He put four slices in the toaster, then asked if the first slice that popped up was mine. I said it was his and reminded him he'd put in four slices. After that rude moment, he collected his four pieces of toast and hurried off. Overall it's a good hotel to stay in. Best things: car park and breakfast. Worst things: dusty room and weak shower pressure. Update: at breakfast today the same man asked if we'd like tea or coffee for the table. Maybe it was because my wife was with me this time?

We had a fantastic stay on Christmas Day (2025). Yamin checked us in with a beautiful smile and a very professional manner. Our room was large, clean and looked over the front entrance of the hotel. We'd booked bed, breakfast and an evening meal, and everything was delivered to a very high standard. Ethan the general manager made sure we felt welcome and warm throughout the stay. Chef Harry prepared our evening meal to perfection. I believe he's 19. Breakfast was excellent too, and it's clear the staff work well together.
