Dales Country House Hotel

The dining room is beautiful and very traditional, which adds a lot to the experience. We had a very good meal at the Dales Hotel Upchers restaurant. The food was fine dining without feeling pretentious or overly expensive, and the welcome and service were first class.

We had dinner in the restaurant on Friday, and it was the best. The staff were brilliant, especially Cyan, who made the evening extra special. We stayed for our anniversary and my birthday weekend, and this was the best place we've stayed. The hotel is beautiful, a traditional country house in stunning, peaceful grounds. The staff really make the place and were so accommodating. Can't fault it, we'll 💯 be back next year.

The tea was so generous we had to admit defeat halfway through, and the lovely staff boxed the rest up for us to take home. There were fresh, tasty sandwiches in a good variety, cheese and sweet scones, jams, pickles, clotted cream, creme brulee and different cakes. Such a lovely afternoon, watching deer wander through the beautiful grounds. You can get to National Trust Sheringham Park from the hotel car park. We visited for afternoon tea today and will definitely return.

The blocked toilet was sorted promptly, and the service was generally good. I found the hotel and its location very nice, and enjoyed my stay overall. Still, for the premium rates, a few things fell short. The old building means the bedroom and public rooms are quite dark, and some well placed LEDs would help. Breakfast service was a bit sloppy, with dirty plates cleared very slowly or not at all. The food was good quality, but was often served almost tepid, which I particularly dislike. Those complaints may sound petty, but the price is part of the picture.
