Old Rectory Hotel

Natalie was wonderful, juggling reception, breakfast and the bar while going out of her way for guests. The rooms were very well appointed, and breakfast was great. Fabulous hotel.

The breakfast was excellent, with table service and plenty to choose from: continental items, a cooked option such as a full English or pancakes, plus juice, toast, tea and coffee. There was no extra charge for any of it. Our room was super comfortable, with good shower pressure and pleasant décor, and the staff were delightful. We’d planned to come in June, but when our plans changed at the last minute, we switched the booking to a little birthday trip instead. There was a £10 date-change fee, but I’m glad we went rather than let the booking go to waste. It’s a gorgeous hotel with a friendly, old-school feel. We had a great time and only wish we’d stayed longer.

I didn’t stay in the end, as I needed a few things they couldn’t provide. The lovely woman I spoke to was honest and helpful about that, instead of making promises just to get a booking like some other hotels nearby. Thank you for the wonderful service.

We spent 12 days at the Old Rectory in June-July and really appreciated the accommodation and service. The breakfasts were amazing, and we always looked forward to Natalie serving us. She was cheerful and so helpful, as were the other staff. She even carried my huge case up to our room. They also arranged to have a small meal delivered to our room at short notice, which was great. There was plenty of hot water and the room was serviced well. We were even given a large fan to keep cool overnight. My one small gripe was the handheld shower attachment in the bath, which you had to hold to get an effective shower. It could do with an update. If we travel from New Zealand to this area again, we’ll stay at The Old Rectory Wem. It was a great find online.
