Skirfare Barn

There are four rooms with beds for groups ranging from 2 to 10, so there’s plenty of space to sleep. We’ve been coming here on and off for ten years, and it’s just right for what we need. There’s lots of outdoor room for BBQs, plus enough space indoors when the rain gets a bit too much. It’s always well maintained, and we’ve never had anything to complain about.

A great spot for a short or longer stay with extended family or friends. It’s stylish and practical, with everything well equipped. There are lovely views and plenty nearby, including walks, hills, bridleways, cycleways, the river and pubs. Parking is secure, clean and spacious, and there’s a BBQ and benches for eating outside. A great choice for a break in the Yorkshire Dales.

The kitchen was nothing like the photos, and the microwave had old burgers and onions in it. I don’t know how long they’d been there, but they’d attracted flies. There were screws and nails on the floor too, which is unsafe, especially with kids around. The place had an awful smell when our large group of friends and children arrived. We paid a lot for this property and wouldn’t recommend it. To top it off, the owner kept part of our bond over some glitter and glue, even though we scrubbed the whole house from top to bottom and left it better than we found it. The glitter and glue could have been washed away with a jug of water. It feels like they’ll keep your money over any little inconvenience. We won’t recommend this place at all. Just scammers.

The group really appreciated having bedding and a delicious keg of beer available, and the communication and logistics were great. We had a brilliant weekend in a beautiful, quiet part of the Yorkshire Dales. The dorm rooms are very generously sized, with bunk beds, and there’s a great living and dining room for evenings. Absolutely amazing space.
