The single-sheet toilet paper is my main gripe. It’s useless and really annoying, and it’s the same across all Premier Inns. I stay at Premier Inns often, and some are better than others. Usually the trouble is miserable staff, outside noise that ruins sleep, or, once, a company decision. This one is among the better ones. The reception staff were cheerful and friendly, and my room was quiet, so I slept well. The bathroom was clean, though it needs a deep clean to deal with the usual mould growth.

Mel at the desk was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. She also helped us find our way around the local area. The rooms had everything we needed too. I’ll definitely come back, hopefully soon.

The rooms are on the small side, but laid out well and make good use of the space. The beds were comfortable, the rooms soundproof, and the restaurant next door had a family-friendly breakfast menu where children eat free. I enjoyed the English breakfast, and appreciated how much attention England gives to recycling. Getting to Glastonbury was a bit of a shock at first. As a US tourist, I found myself driving past what I thought was a homeless camp, after my GPS took us off the original route. A pedestrian and bike path was blocked off, with litter and garbage around, and small abandoned-looking camper trailers were parked along the streets. On my final day, I read in the Somerset news that the caravans belonged to people on a pilgrimage. It was a culture shock, though it certainly wasn’t a homeless camp like you see in the US. We had a lovely stay and a beautiful time enjoying the small town. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and relaxed.

The road outside the Premier Inn is lined with parked caravans, as are many parts of Glastonbury, which was a little off-putting at first. The hotel was clean, and the bathroom looked very clean and recently renovated. We had dinner at the restaurant, where the £5 meal deals were good value. Breakfast disappointed a bit, though, with no vegetarian options and no tomatoes on the second day.

I stayed in a Premier plus room. The staff are always helpful and friendly, sort out any problems quickly, and know the local area well. I can’t fault them.
