The kitchen in the apartment had absolutely everything we could need, even a double Ninja air fryer. We ended up staying there after ferry cancellations left my wife, me and our three excitable cocker spaniels needing somewhere to stay. When I called and explained, they opened an apartment for us and welcomed us so warmly. Breakfast was lovely too, with homemade bread, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, plus friendly smiles all round. After more than 30 years of coming to Orkney, I've found another gem. This one's a diamond!

The Murray Arms is a lovely place for lunch. My husband Scott, Bruce the pug and I visited on 21st August after reading the great reviews and seeing the tempting menu. The restaurant and bar make a beautiful setting, and the food was amazing. The staff were so warm and friendly, looked after us throughout and made a big fuss over Bruce, which he loved. Thanks again to such a fab bunch of people. We'd definitely return and recommend it to anyone after a nice seafood lunch or dinner.

The service was outstanding, and Niki, our Jack Russell, got the full VIP treatment. We only came in for coffee, but ended up ordering soup too. The chowder was packed with flavour and delicious. Couldn't have asked for more. We'll be back.

I live in Sydney, Australia, and have had my share of seafood platters, so I know how impressive this one was. My main was the seafood platter for one, full of the freshest seafood, not mostly fried pieces like you get in some places. Before that I had the scallop and seafood chowder for entree. The food and the staff's friendly service were outstanding. Thanks for the experience. It was definitely worth the hours of travel. 🇦🇺

The room was spacious enough and very clean, and the food was excellent. Service was great, with really friendly staff. The location works well for visiting Orkney and travelling to or from St Margaret’s Hope, though distances between sites are minimal across the small island anyway.
