Little Haven Hotel

I only ate at the restaurant for Sunday lunch, so the room stars don’t apply. The meat portions were generous for the price, and both the succulent beef and tasty, flavourful lamb were cooked without drying out. The gravy was a 10/10. The vegetables seemed a little undercooked, though they’re never the best part of a roast for me. Lunch was lovely and good value: £10.45 for one course, £13.45 for two, or £17.50 for three.

We wanted something light for tea, but were told the evening menu only started at 6pm. A cook heard us and kindly offered to make what my partner and I wanted, then brought it over himself. He was polite and well spoken. They’re pet friendly and even have a menu for them, which is nice. I’ll come back with my four-legged friend.

The seafront setting was a real treat, with wide views of the beach and harbour. I loved waking to the waves and having breakfast while ships went by, and it was peaceful despite being near local attractions. My room, listed as a penthouse here or a King room on other sites, was spacious, spotless and comfortable, with a dreamy bed and everything I needed for a relaxing break. From arrival, the staff made me feel welcome with warm smiles and genuine hospitality. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The restaurant was another highlight, with a good range of dishes. The lamb dinner was fresh, delicious and served with care. My stay at the Little Haven Hotel in South Shields was wonderful. Whether you’re there for a romantic getaway, family holiday or a coastal escape, I’d highly recommend it. I’m already looking forward to returning.

We stayed overnight and had a really disappointing experience. The bathroom had lots of hair and wasn’t very clean. The bed was awful, with springs digging into us, so we ended up sleeping on top of the duvet and using our coats to stay warm. Breakfast was cold too. Sorry, it just wasn’t good.
