The chairs have several problems, including stains and cracked edges, and there’s a leaking bath tap. The room also smells of sweaty feet. I’d paid in advance, but on arrival they asked for my credit card in case I damaged the room. Why wasn’t that in the booking conditions? It makes you feel like you’re being treated as a vandal. Put all the information in the booking so customers can decide. I’ve had to inspect the room and take pictures of the existing damage, and take another picture in the morning to show how I left it.

The carpet and light switches in the room were dirty and sticky. The receptionist was very rude and acted like she couldn’t care less. I’m registered disabled, but she made me walk from the lorry park to the hotel, saying the car park was reserved for coaches. Strange, since when I came out this morning it was full of cars and work vans. Obviously a liar.

The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and it was surprisingly quiet for a place on the motorway services. Check-in was straightforward and the staff were polite. It’s a bit tired in places and could do with a refresh, but nothing major. This isn’t luxury, but it works well for a night’s rest on a stopover. I’d stay again if I were passing through.

We didn’t have a good time. The AC leaked in our first room, so they moved us, but the fridge in the next one smelled of rotten milk. We had two nights left, and they gave us another room in a different city. After a few hours there, we checked out and went to a nicer hotel in a different city.
