The room was pretty average, though the bathroom was clean and the bedding and towels were fresh. We noticed a bit of dust on the window sill and a stain on the chair, but neither affected our stay. What did bother us was the location. Our room faced a tunnel where people seemed to go for a smoke, and it kept smelling of weed. It was too hot to leave the windows shut. The busy road near st Marys also meant sirens day and night. They woke us a little, though you do get somewhat used to them. We stayed for my 20th birthday and still had a great time. The staff were friendly, especially Sarah, who was welcoming, helpful, professional and answered all our questions really well. Another staff member in the restaurant, whose name we can't remember, had lovely piercings and was funny and caring. Thanks for helping make my birthday extra special. Keep up the good work.

Shelley took great care of my allergies. She wiped the table with a fresh cloth, brought cutlery that hadn't been in the table pot, had my food prepared in a separate area, and washed her hands before handling my plate. She checked that all was well, answered my questions, and made me feel both welcome and safe. The restaurant looked lovely and the food was delicious. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable, and all the staff were friendly and accommodating from check-in onward. I'd highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Southampton.

Dinner was a great experience, thanks to James and Charlene. They were polite, friendly and really helpful, and I asked their names so I could recognize them properly. James was back on breakfast duty in the morning and the service was just as good. We were welcomed very politely and professionally when we arrived on January 1, 2026 for an overnight stay. Well done, they're a credit to the Premier Inn Southampton City Centre Hotel.

Jane was a joy to have serve us. She was friendly, accommodating and helpful, with a fantastic personality. Please pass on our thanks. Shelley was also polite and friendly at breakfast, where there was a lovely selection. The evening meal was a letdown, though. My husband's gammon and eggs arrived with eggs so hard they seemed to have sat on the hot plate for ages. We waited about 8-9 minutes for new ones, by which time he'd nearly finished eating. My pizza needed more cooking and was very pale and rough. I asked for pepperoni, red pepper, red onion and extra basil, but got only three thin red pepper slices and barely any pesto, less than a teaspoon. I liked the flavour, but left a lot because of the lack of toppings. The worst part was seeing a staff member spend 20 minutes with a couple, then sit down to eat with them in uniform. We thought it was unprofessional, especially as Jane was left running the restaurant alone for quite a while before someone else appeared. The staff member seemed focused on her family the whole time we were there. I wouldn't have been allowed to do that at my job, and think she should have changed or covered her top. Everything else was very good. Sorry to be so honest.

The room was clean and nice, and Sharan at the front desk was extremely helpful. She moved us so we could be closer to our elderly guest's room. We'd definitely stay again if we're back in the area.
