We stayed two nights and had a lovely time celebrating my husband's birthday. The food was superb, and the service was very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, spacious and nicely decorated, and the location worked well for visiting the nearby China clay museum and historic Charlestown. The wet February weather wasn't ideal for sitting in the garden, so we missed out on its little tucked-away seating spots and what must be sunny corners. We'd love to return when the beautiful gardens are in full bloom.

Breakfast was excellent, especially the poached eggs with smoked salmon, the best I've tasted. They catered well for a pescatarian or vegetarian diet, and even had Marmite. The waitress was pleasant and attentive, and the chef was friendly and experienced. We felt at home from the moment Donna welcomed us at the Inn. She showed us around the garden and restaurant before taking us to our clean, spacious and cosy room. It was lovely and warm when we arrived, with the heating already on, and the bathroom radiator and towel rail nice and hot. The shower was powerful and hot. It was also quiet, with plenty of parking, and a handy location for our dinner and event at The Lost Gardens of Heligan. We really enjoyed our first stay at the Waterwheel on 14th Feb and will come again for longer. :)

After a hard day's work, the care we got here meant a lot. We were leaving early for work the next day, and they made packed lunches for me and my colleague, just the way we wanted. That consideration was incredible. Thank you both. Donna served us, checked us in, and even walked us to our room. She was so professional, nothing was any trouble, and she'd been there 5 years. The chef, Stan, was a legend too, very knowledgeable and happy to cater for my unusual requirements. I had the carrot and smoked paprika soup of the day, then aubergine risotto. He deserves a Michelin star! You must visit. It's close to the beach, with a massive car park and free wifi.

Recently extended and in perfect condition, this is a very nice small hotel and Inn, conveniently located for St Austell and the surrounding area. Our room was modest in size but excellent, and the shower room was top hotel quality. Great service and an outstanding breakfast.

Very friendly staff looked after us well at this excellent inn. Breakfasts were amazing, with a great choice and cooked breakfasts made to order. We ate there on several evenings too and enjoyed the good selection. The location was very handy for this part of Cornwall. Now we need to diet and dry out.
