The garden is lovely and spacious, a nice place for a quiet wander or a bit of downtime. The house is tucked away in a peaceful spot, but the high street with its shops, pubs and restaurants is only about a 10min walk away. It made for a relaxing break, with the city and beach close by too. Inside, every room has its own Victorian look, full of antiques and character. There’s so much atmosphere and detail that it feels like stepping back in time. It would be brilliant for photography, almost like a museum or a photo studio, with each room having a different feel. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the staff were kind. The owners and team made us feel very welcome, and their genuine hospitality made the stay special. I’m definitely coming back again and again.

The detailed decor is wonderful, especially if you’re into Victoriana. Recommended without hesitation.

The Victorian decor is exactly why we chose this place, and we loved all the quaint details. It’s beautiful, easily a four star plus for me. A couple of practical things could be better. There’s a wicker bin in the main bedroom, but I’d have liked a bin in the bathroom too. There are lots of cabinets, though most were filled with blankets and other things, leaving very little room for clothes. I like to bring dresses on holiday, and there was hardly anywhere to hang them. Guests shouldn’t have to keep everything in their suitcases.

I’m about to come back for my fourth stay, which probably says it all. The house is a wonderfully put together, eclectic mix of things from the past, and all the decor makes you feel as if you’ve stepped back in time. It’s no frills, but somehow has all the frills too. The breakfast carries on the same theme, with lovely presentation and plenty of choice. There’s also a gorgeous garden and a stunning chapel at the back.

I stayed in the old nursery, a gorgeous room packed with fascinating objects. The bed was really comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and tidy. Paul was welcoming and helpful, and the fried breakfast was divine. There’s so much to look at in the house that you could spend hours noticing all the details. Then there’s the garden, which felt like a little slice of heaven. The whole place seems like a real labour of love, and I felt so peaceful there. I’m already looking forward to coming back. Thank you, Claire.
