Sunday London Staines-upon-Thames Heathrow T5

I was there for work earlier this month, and the staff were lovely, especially the restaurant team. My room had a pretty balcony view over the lake. The curtains were broken, though, and I found tissues and some clothes, a hat and socks, left by previous guests in the built-in storage. It’s a shame those were missed during cleaning. At £360 for three nights, I’d expect better.

A decent option at a reasonable price for a work trip, and worth considering as an alternative. The location is handy if you need to stay in Staines. Rooms are basic and a bit dated, but clean and tidy. There’s someone at the check-in desk. They were fairly quiet despite being quite close to the road.

*EDIT: OYO, who own the hotel, have been even worse to deal with. They now accuse me of using the stay when we didn’t. They also won’t refund the Penalty Charge Notice from their car park, even though they couldn’t provide our confirmed booking. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. We drove three hours, paid for two rooms, and were told at check-in they couldn’t accommodate us. Only after I tried to check in did the hotel message us to “pre-warn” us. The staff were rude and offered no help finding somewhere else nearby. It was almost 9pm, and there was no manager available to talk to. The receptionist was messaging her manager on WhatsApp, and that seems to have triggered the cancellation email after we’d already tried to check in. I felt bad for the bar staff. They work for an independent company and said this had happened a few times. The hotel said maintenance problems meant the rooms had to close, but booking.com told us it was overbooking. I was travelling with two younger female colleagues for work. The hotel gave us no support, which caused the girls a lot of stress and anxiety. Since then, no manager or staff member has even contacted us to apologise for what we went through.

The rooms were spacious and clean, and the woman at check-in was welcoming. We were checked in quickly, and it’s a handy location for Thorpe Park. My only gripe was the lack of tables in the bar. Everything else was great, and I’d recommend it.
