Crown Hotel Stamford

We loved our room, and the hotel was lively and welcoming. The whole place was spotless, and staff were friendly and helpful. Our one complaint was being woken at 06:45 by an incredibly loud noise from the floor above. We couldn't tell if it was housekeeping or a builder, and oddly the receptionist didn't seem to know either. It didn't ruin the stay, but it did spoil our one chance for a lie-in without our demanding Labrador whining downstairs.

The hotel's location is ideal, just a short walk from the centre, yet very quiet. Breakfast was delicious, and we were glad we'd booked dinner in the restaurant too, the food was excellent. Restaurant staff were wonderful and handled everything with a smile; nothing seemed too much trouble. We stayed overnight at The Crown and were impressed by the whole visit. At check-in, the young woman at reception was polite, friendly and efficient. She showed us to a very clean room, thanks to the housekeeping team. We'll certainly be back.

The Christmas table decorations were beautiful, and we were never hurried once we'd finished eating. This was our second year having our family Christmas meal here, and we'll certainly return for next year's celebrations. Even though it was very busy, service never wavered. We'd preordered from the Christmas menu, and the food was delicious and really well cooked. Courses came with reasonable gaps between them, and the busy restaurant didn't show in the attention we received. Well done to everyone, from front of house and waiting staff to the chefs and kitchen team.

All the staff were great at their jobs, welcoming, knowledgeable and professional. 'Jordan' was especially helpful, and had lots of insight when we asked about places of interest nearby. The food was excellent and tasty, with generous portions at dinner and breakfast. The red wine selection was very good too. My wife and I had a fabulous stay in a Signature Plus suite at The Crown Hotel, in a great location. The room was spacious, with a gorgeous bathroom and tasteful, high-quality fittings throughout. It was a pleasure to call it home for the night. The super king-size bed and linen were very comfortable. We'll definitely come back, highly recommend it. A real gem!
