The room was clean and roomy enough, and the views were decent. It’s a quiet, pretty part of Stourport, which suited the stay, though it’s not ideal if you want to be close to town. The reception staff were welcoming too. Inside, the decor felt dated and not especially inviting. The car park was in a dreadful state, with potholes all over it. My room and en-suite were both very cold, and the shower took ages to get hot water through. I’m used to a chilly old house, but expected better here. Breakfast service felt rushed. I didn’t feel I had time to choose what to order. The food was fine, neither great nor bad. I left feeling this hotel needs some improvements.

The evening meal was excellent, and breakfast had loads of choice. The full English was better than what plenty of more prestigious chains serve. The menu overall was very good, and I couldn’t fault the staff. I stayed on a Tuesday, so it was quiet. The hotel seemed well looked after and spotlessly clean, despite clearly having once been part of a chain. The gym was basic but spacious. The location looked appealing too, and I’d like to explore the area when the weather’s better. I’ll stay here again.

Our Valentine’s stay was a disaster. We won’t come back or recommend it to anyone. The room was bitterly cold because the heating was broken, and reception gave us an electric heater. The en-suite was freezing and very dirty, with an unidentified substance on the shower. The hallway smelled of weed, which didn’t seem acceptable for a hotel that says it welcomes families. Dinner was booked for 8pm, but when we arrived they moved it to 6.30pm because an event was on. We were told it was busy and an earlier meal would be quicker, but the service was slow and awful. Waitresses kept bringing us four different meals we hadn’t ordered because they mixed up whose food was whose. We waited almost an hour for the mains. When they finally arrived, the peppercorn sauce had formed a skin, the chips were cold, and my steak was cooked wrong and full of blood. I’m pregnant, so I couldn’t eat it. I also had to ask for a steak knife after being given a butter knife. When I complained to the manager and reminded him I was pregnant, he offered me a large bottle of wine as compensation, just 30 seconds after I’d told him. Later, I waited another 15 minutes after asking a waitress for the manager, and when he came over he rolled his eyes. We skipped dessert rather than risk waiting until midnight for it. Of the four couples in the restaurant, including us, nobody had anything good to say about the service. The staff seemed rude and clueless, with no one knowing what they were doing. Seeing a sign saying you could get married there felt outrageous after the way we were treated.

The hotel itself is nice, and maybe we were just unlucky with the other guests. Still, sleep was a struggle. A dog barked in the corridor after midnight, then heavy-footed people above us kept moving around until after one, and again from 5.20. We could hear every footstep and even the toilet seat dropping. The hotel isn’t to blame for other guests, but if you want a quiet night, it might be worth asking for a room on the top floor.

The meats at the carvery were nicely cooked and tender, and the bar lady was polite, friendly, and quick with the service. I had it at The Stourport Manor Hotel on Sunday 1st March 2026. They started doing carveries on the 1st February. Looking forward to going back soon.
