The George And Dragon Inn

I haven’t stayed at the hotel, but I come to the George & Dragon regularly for a pint and something to eat. The food’s great, and Riley really brings the place to life when he’s working. He’s a big reason I keep coming back. Cheers!

A calm, clean pub with good quality food. The young woman serving was friendly, too. It was nice and quiet, so you could actually hear yourself think. 5 ⭐

We booked six nights, but after just one we found another hotel and left. In 51 years of marriage, this was our worst hotel experience. The owner had called room 3 one of the best rooms, but it was dirty and had only one key, so we couldn’t go out separately. The toilet wouldn’t flush properly. We had to fill the rubbish bin with water from the broken shower wall fitting to flush it. The main light shade was full of dead flies, and while searching for the TV remote, even behind the bedroom radiator, we found years of dust and dirt, cobwebs and a previous guest’s sock, now grey though it had been white. The owner said it would be cleaned and sorted while we were out, but nothing had been done by the evening. The kettle lid was broken and the towels had holes. I have photos of all of it. The owner was rude and insisted everything worked, saying I didn’t know what I was talking about. Breakfast was the only good thing, but we only had it once. We lost £560 and got no refund. I cannot recommend this hotel.

Three of us have been staying here while working away for the past three weeks. The rooms are comfortable and clean, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. Nothing has been too much trouble.
