For the very cheap price, you’re more willing to accept a few things. Breakfast was sufficient for the cost and made behind reception by lovely staff. But I didn’t find it spotless like some reviews say. The carpets are old, with dust and fluff along the edges and in the corners. The corridors and stairs felt grubby, and I was uneasy letting the kids walk around without shoes.

I was up for work and stayed the night. The room was clean and well maintained, and breakfast was great value. Both the night and morning staff were approachable and helpful, and happy to make small talk. I’ll use this hotel whenever I’m up for work.

I stayed one night at magnum hotel in Sunderland on the 8th of Feb, with my vehicle parked outside. I gave my registration to reception, but still got a parking charge notice from UKPC, their car park regulator. I’ve tried calling reception over 20 times. They picked up once and transferred me to "RECEPTION", which was the number I’d called in the first place, so it felt like they were fobbing me off. I also emailed them. The reply sounded promising, but nobody followed up. Their customer service is as bad as it gets. Even on the night I stayed, I called for directions and they didn’t answer. It’s abysmal. Don’t stay here if you don’t want to be charged by their car park regulator.

Lindsey went way above and beyond for us. After I fell, she carried me to the car, drove me to the hospital, checked in on me and my child afterwards, and arranged for my car to stay in the car park since I couldn’t drive it home. She deserves a raise and a bonus, and I can’t thank her enough. Chris was unbelievably helpful and pleasant too, even though I changed my booking several times. It may not be a five star hotel, but the service we received certainly was. I’d recommend it and will definitely stay here again when visiting the stadium, as it’s very close by.
