Days Inn Sutton Scotney North

The room was decent for the price. The shower was only just warm enough for a bath, though the water was much hotter on the southbound side.

I’d use Days Inn again, especially for a low-cost business trip. The room was spacious, the bed comfortable, and the shower great. Rates were good, and the receptionist was really welcoming. The hotel could use a refurb, but it does the job and has what you need.

The room was filthy and neglected, with hair all over the bed and pillow. It was freezing too, and even after turning on the electric heater it took a couple of hours to warm up. We had no hot water. Reception told us to wait an hour, but after two hours there still wasn’t any water for bathing. Later, another receptionist said the tepid water was suitable in her opinion. Service was appalling from the start. The receptionist was rude when we arrived and told us to wait because she was busy. When more staff turned up, they became quite intimidating. A later visit from reception offered a refund if we left, even after we explained we were exhausted and five hours from home. I contacted wyndham customer service, who said they’d investigate the complaint. I slept on top of the bed. In the morning we washed and left disgusted by how we’d been treated. Never again.

The staff were nice and did what they could to help, but the hotel itself was unpleasant. There were broken, leaking ceilings in the corridor and a damp smell. Our first room smelled strongly of damp; the second was better, but still musty. On the other side, vacant rooms had their doors open with dehumidifiers running. It’s a shame because I’ve been fine with other Days Inn hotels. Even at the low price, I’d avoid this one.
