The staff were helpful, and the place was clean and reasonably quiet, though it’s a bit dated. Just be aware that parking nearby at St Davids costs £5 for 24 hours. You also have to leave a £100 deposit on your room. That seems very unusual, and if you don’t pay it, you can’t stay and won’t get it refunded, so keep that in mind.

The room radiators weren’t working, and the old net curtains were dusty and had holes in them. There wasn’t a phone in the room for emergencies, so you have to go downstairs to reception. The receptionist was friendly and nice, and the room service lady kindly brought a heater, thank you. The hotel atmosphere was good, and the location was handy for anything you need to buy. Breakfast was confusing, the menu seemed to keep changing.

Check-in and checkout were quick, and everything was alright. It’s usually a quiet place too. The city has a much more harmonious atmosphere and feel than Cardiff, really. If you’re travelling in Wales, I think Bristol or Swansea might be better choices than Cardiff.

For one night in a budget hotel, it did the job. The rooms feel old-fashioned and dated, and the service was just okay. Having to choose and book your breakfast ahead of time is a stupid system.
