Holiday Inn Express Swansea East

Really nice stay. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and both the meal and breakfast were good value. The guy at the check-in desk was especially helpful: I was in a truck, and he found me a parking space, then put cones and barriers around it for me.

We were travelling to Wales and used the hotel as a stop along the way. The man on reception in the afternoon on 19th October was an absolute star, so helpful and great with customer service. Sorry I didn’t catch his name. He helped our big family group of 16 a few times when keys were left in rooms, and they welcome dogs too. Breakfast had a good selection, and the rooms were clean and smelled nice. The lady who serviced our room in the morning was very sweet to my dog, even though he barked at her. The TV was big enough and the bathroom was clean. The room backed onto the motorway, but with the window shut I didn’t hear it at all, and there are trees between the road and hotel. Harvester is right next door, and we got a takeaway from there and were allowed to eat it in our room. There’s a USB and a plug socket on one side of the bed. Thanks again to the staff!

I was tired, hungry and felt ripped off by the end of this stay. My company’s £30 meal allowance barely covered a main plus either a starter or dessert. The food seemed like microwave meals, with prices far too high. I went well over the allowance trying to get enough to feel full, and it felt like overpriced prison food. At midnight someone tried my room door. I was told it was a member of the night staff, but after the disturbance I only got four hours of sleep. On top of that, there were two single beds instead of a double, so I was crammed into one for no apparent reason. I don’t understand who the two singles are meant for. Amazing! :(

The room was pretty standard, but perfectly fine, and I slept okay despite the bed being a bit firm. Breakfast was good for the price, which was included overall. They’re welcoming to dogs, though I found the £30 charge for a dog for one night a bit excessive.
