Holiday Inn Express Swindon - West

For what this Holiday Inn Express offers, it’s great and relatively inexpensive. We slept well: the room was clean and quiet despite being close to the M4, the beds were comfortable, and the climate control worked. Staff were friendly and helpful, with no complaints from us. There’s plenty of parking, including disabled spaces, and dogs are welcome.

The staff were brilliant, and I was surprised by how nice the place was. The bathroom and shower were tidy and very clean, with no leaks or stains. The room was quiet, the bed firm, and both the heating and air conditioning worked fine. Free parking, a really nice breakfast, and a bar that stays open all night too. I’ll come back.

We found it just off the M4 at Swindon West, with plenty of free parking. Remember to enter your number plate on the reception tablet. The welcome was good, and our top-floor room near the end of the building was quiet. The hotel has 120 rooms and was about half full when we arrived. The room was dated but functional, as you’d expect from a standard HI. The air conditioning, TV, and shower all worked, though the bed was very firm. There were human hair shavings gathered in a bathroom corner. I asked at reception if there was a cleaner, and was told there wasn’t, but that she’d sort it. When we came back from dinner, it was still there, so I cleaned it myself. Breakfast was good, hot and fresh, with everything available and plenty of seats.

Free parking and a clean room with air conditioning, plus friendly staff and a quick check-in. Breakfast is simple but has what you need. It’s easy to find by Google Maps or the road signs, though you can’t turn straight into the hotel at the first set of lights off the motorway. Hard to fault.
