The spa treatments and facilities were excellent, and the food was tasty and fairly priced. Room service was good, and I liked being able to use the app to order. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast felt a little chaotic, but the rooms were clean, comfortable and spacious.

I spent less than 12 hours here, but I'll be back with more time to relax. It may not be the plushest hotel I've stayed in, but the character and value were hard to beat. I'd booked flexible half board weeks ahead, for about half what a room-only stay costs at a faceless London hotel. My plans changed and I thought I might arrive around midnight, so I emailed reception and got a cheerful reply. When I later updated them to say 10pm, they said they'd have a pizza or sandwich ready. Gareth, the night porter, gave me a warm Yorkshire welcome and cheerfully cooked a tasty pizza, included in my rate. If the restaurant had been open, that would have been two set courses. He brought it to my room with a smile. At breakfast, Ben, who'd handled the email, remembered me and checked everything had worked out. There was plenty of choice, and the staff made it clear they were happy to help. Room 57 had been freshly refurbished, and was quiet and spacious. It was a bit warm without air conditioning, but I slept comfortably with the windows open and just a sheet, in November. I used the Tesla supercharger that night, though I could have waited until morning.

I booked a room at tankardsley manor for a Christmas party night, as staying over seemed easier than sorting out a taxi or a lift home. Check-in was quick and easy, and the young man at reception was lovely. I'd forgotten my phone charger plug and he lent me one. There was tea and coffee in the room, and the bed was very comfortable, so I slept really well. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with loads to choose from, including fruit, yoghurt, pastries, a Full English and different eggs. There was even a gluten-free option. I had a lovely stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

The location worked well for me, close to the motorway. Staff were friendly and professional, and gave me all the information I needed. The hotel was clean and its amenities met my expectations. The restaurant's food was excellent and well worth having. I didn't get to try the spa this time, but I'll definitely return.
