Thurnham Hall Resort

The pool area is on the small side and could do with some improvement, but it didn't take away from our enjoyable stay. This was our second year in a row here for our family girls' weekend. We booked three apartments again, and they suited our needs. The rooms are always clean and tidy. Make time for the walk down the lane to St Thomas and St Elizabeth Church. I'd also like to see the chapel on site next time.

We had a great dinner at the Lemon Tree restaurant last night. The food was cooked perfectly, especially the garlic bread and pasta, and live music gave the place a relaxed feel. The staff were hospitable and the service was really good. The hotel sits in a picturesque setting that I'm sure is lovely in any season. It's well placed for visiting Lancaster, the Lake District and Blackpool, and there's a large carpark with plenty of spaces. The building looks grand too. A hidden gem, and I'd highly recommend it.

Art at reception made us feel welcome and was friendly and helpful. I got in touch through the text service when we needed a few things, and Art replied straight away and sorted everything efficiently. Reception also dealt with a heater that stopped working promptly. We had a brilliant two-day stay in a spacious, comfortable studio at Thurnham Hall. The kitchen was well equipped, including a dishwasher and washing machine, and we had everything we needed. We also enjoyed the gym, swimming pool and sauna. It's a peaceful, beautiful place, and we'll definitely come back.

The maintenance team deserves a mention. We had an issue in our apartment, and they were proactive, fixed it the same day and couldn't have been more helpful. They probably don't get enough recognition for that. We stayed for four nights in a beautiful, very tranquil place that worked well as a base for exploring the area. The staff were exceptional.
