Lunch was a good choice, with generous portions and prices that felt more than reasonable. I had the chicken fajitas and really liked them. The shepherd’s pie and ham with chips were good too. All the food was fabulous, and the atmosphere at midday was nice.

We spent our anniversary here, and it was a lovely stay. The hotel is right in the heart of town, and our room was cosy and warm. Housekeeping was excellent, as was the food, with large portions. The staff were friendly and happy to help with anything. Saturday’s live music was excellent too. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

The daily roasts are fabulous, and the prices are fair. Staff are always friendly, and from what I can tell there’s a nice mix of locals and visitors. Even as just a tourist, I can absolutely recommend this pub. It’s my go-to in Devon.

The food was fantastic, the atmosphere just right, and the bar staff were amazing. It’s cute and cosy, in a perfect location. One of the best pubs I’ve visited! I’ll be back to stay in their rooms for a weekend.

The beef in the burgers was clearly high quality and very tasty, and the ham sandwich was good quality too. The guy behind the bar was polite, friendly and very good. Our waitress brought the sauces promptly, though she was busy and rushed off. Since we’d ordered burgers, it would have been helpful to have cutlery for the salad and chips. We visited Totnes on a bank holiday Sunday when many places to eat were closed. This place looked appealing, with an outdoor “pop-up” terrace for the last of the summer alfresco dining. The pub is nicely decorated, smaller inside than it looks from outside, but cosy. We got two burgers and a ham sandwich for my 2yr old, as there wasn’t really anything else on the menu for him. A children’s section would be nice, though maybe they don’t really want kids there. With a few cokes and a fruit shoot, it came to just under £50, which felt steep. A good experience, but a bit pricey, so 4/5 from me.
