The starters, whitebait and parsnip soup, were lovely, and the sticky toffee pudding was too. We’ve had such a great experience with The Vic Inn before: the team went above and beyond for our wedding reception in February, especially Amber, who helped plan every detail and set everything up on the day. Last night, though, felt pretty average by comparison. Maybe Sunday made a difference. We both ordered spaghetti with meatballs and found the pasta spicy all the way through. There was no mention of spice on the menu, so I could only eat the meatballs. We were guessing what was in the sauce, chilli flakes or something else. The garlic bread was tasty. The staff seemed busy, and having several servers rotate around our table was a bit distracting. Two different people checked within five minutes whether we needed anything, which was attentive, but interrupted the meal. I’d suggest marking the bolognese as spicy on the menu and putting drinks menus on the tables so diners don’t have to ask someone to fetch one.

We arrived early like they advised, and this was the best carvery we’ve had in ages. Everything was cooked just right, with really generous portions. The staff were attentive without hovering. I’d definitely recommend it for a midweek carvery, who wouldn’t? 😆

The food was good, though the potatoes weren’t crispy, but service needs work. We’d booked a table for 5:15 on Sunday and were told rather abruptly to leave it by 6:30. We sat down, and the waitress came over, but by 5:45 none of us had been served. When I asked, the chef hadn’t received our chit, and nobody apologised. No one checked whether everyone was enjoying the meal, either. When we went to pay, there was food all over the front of the carvery area and gravy had been spilled there.

Charlotte and her team made me feel welcome and looked after me throughout my stay at The Victoria Inn, Threemilestone. I was there overnight for work and found the room clean and comfortable, just right for unwinding after a long day. The food was excellent, good quality and generous portions, and it came with a smile. I’d happily come back in a heartbeat. Highly recommended for a stay in the area, for work or leisure.

Really nice decor and great value. The midweek roast today was the best. I’d get there early while it’s super fresh, since the meat can be busier or drier later on.
