We spent our stay in a lodge, and it made for a really enjoyable family break. The grounds are peaceful and the views are lovely, while the place has plenty of character from its fascinating history and artifacts dotted around. Our dog was welcome and loved being there, which was a big bonus. After days out exploring, we enjoyed unwinding in the pool, sauna, and steam room. The lodge was comfortable and had everything we needed, and the restaurant served really good food. The staff were amazing too. We’d happily come back and recommend it.

We came back for a second visit in about three years. It’s a relaxing place to switch off, with a slower feel than a traditional hotel. The building has real history and grace, and sits secluded in private grounds with parking. Rooms are clean and modern, and if you choose an upgrade you can get a fridge and a superb view over the bay. Staff are friendly and helpful, and the pool and spa are included in the stay, which is excellent. Breakfast was good, and the restaurant has a very nice atmosphere. There’s also a CoOp nearby if you need to pick anything up. The pay-as-you-go setup is a little different, but it wasn’t a problem for us.

The pool, jacuzzi, and saunas were great, and the pool’s different depths and layouts made it especially fun. My SEND son had a wonderful time playing in the water. We also really liked our family room. It was quiet, very clean, and thoughtfully arranged with a separate bedroom for the children. It wasn’t a suite, but giving the kids their own space worked really well for us. The small fridge came in handy for my son’s goats milk and sheep yogurt. The restaurant food was fantastic, especially the delicious lamb. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, though. With the county being known for dairy, I’d expected at least 3-4 kinds of local cheese, rather than the standard selection you can find in supermarkets around the country. If you book as a member, ask at check-in for the £10 drinks voucher. The staff don’t offer it automatically, and we didn’t know about it, so we missed out. We had a lovely stay and would be happy to return.

The woodland grounds were extensive and well looked after, with nice walks to enjoy. We stayed for a week in the beautiful 19th century manor. Our accommodation was nicely laid out and well decorated, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We ate at the restaurant, where the meals were well cooked and presented. It was an excellent week away.

The spa facilities were a real highlight. The pool, sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi all felt clean, relaxing, and well maintained. There are separate changing rooms with free lockers, and booking a time slot by phone ahead of time was easy enough. We had a superior terraced room for two nights and loved it. It was spacious and comfortable, with a big cozy bed and a large shower room. The terrace wasn’t fully private, but opening the double doors was still a lovely touch. Tea, coffee, biscuits, and a full set of toiletries were provided, including shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand lotion. Breakfast was included and excellent. There was a fresh, varied continental spread and a hot buffet with everything needed for a delicious Full English. 10/10! We ate in the restaurant both evenings too. The menu is small but thoughtfully put together, with enough choice for different tastes. The food was tasty and beautifully presented, and our evening waiter was especially kind and friendly. We’d definitely return.
