Kathleen runs a friendly, welcoming and homely guest house, and we were lucky to see a whale and her calf visiting the sea loch at Ullapool every day. We stayed just before Christmas 2025 and had to shift our booking by a day because of a funeral. Our host was fine with that. When we arrived, Kathleen was so welcoming and showed us around the charming house and our room. We’d phoned ahead with an approximate arrival time, and there was a roaring cosy fire in the lounge waiting for us. The beds and duvet were warm, cosy and comfortable; I usually miss my own bed when travelling, but not here. In the evenings there’s a complimentary dram of whisky by the fire in the guest lounge, just the comfort you want after a day in the wild Scottish countryside. It’s within walking distance of Ullapool’s shops and restaurants, and there’s plenty of free street parking out front. Breakfast was superb, one of the best cooked breakfasts I’ve had in years. Usually something about breakfast doesn’t quite hit the mark, but this did. A magnificent start whether you’ve got an early ferry to Stornoway or a day driving around the Scottish Highlands. Highly recommended.

Kathleen at Creagan gives a level of service that’s beyond excellent. The rooms are immaculate and comfortable, and the lounge is incredibly cosy. Breakfast was the best I’ve had at a B&B. The location works perfectly for catching a ferry or exploring this beautiful part of the world from Ullapool. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

The location right in Ullapool is hard to beat, and I’d definitely come back. Kathleen was a great host and made us a fantastic breakfast. Our room was small, tidy, cute and well equipped. Loved staying at Creagan!

The Scottish breakfast includes Stornoway black pudding, and the room was very comfortable. Kathleen is a warm, welcoming host who can give you good information about local places to eat and things to do. Creagan Guest House is a perfect place to stay in Ullapool.

The breakfast was beautifully tasty, with lovely eggs produced by the girls in the back garden. Harris the dog is lovely and friendly, and keeps Kathleen working hard. This was our second stay since covid. We had a ground-floor room like a wood-lined cabin, spotlessly clean with a huge comfortable bed. It was almost too good to stay just one night. The only downside was hearing the upstairs guests make the timbers creak when they got up in the night.
