The worst place to stay. There’s practically no service, and the rooms don’t make you want to stay longer than a night. Cleanliness is minimal.

I chose this place because it was near Uni and a friend had recommended it. The room had a strong damp smell, with visible black mould around the windows and on the bathroom ceiling. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, and I saw coffee or tea marks on the walls and dust around the lamp and wardrobe. At check-in, the receptionist didn’t seem welcoming. She rattled off the entrance and room codes quickly and gave us nothing written down. There are no keys or cards, just a PIN, so anyone who knows it can get into the room. That didn’t feel safe at all. They were doing building work, and the loud noise started early in the morning, making it impossible to rest. Sleeping in the car might have been better. It was a terrible experience, overpriced, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

I’ve stayed in cheap hostels all over Europe, and my standards are pretty low, but I’ve never walked out of a hotel or hostel before. This was a first. £60 a night for this is ridiculous. I said I’d arrive around 7 when they called, and was told they’d send an entry code. It never came. At 7:15 I was told to wait ten minutes for someone to arrive, so there clearly wasn’t staff on site. Then I waited another ten minutes while they found or prepared a suitable room. At the room, he took the pillows away and left me awkwardly waiting another five minutes for replacements, which still had hair on them. The cup was the last straw: dusty, dirty and marked with lipstick. There are no room keys or cards, only a keypad, so anyone with the PIN can enter. As a woman alone with male workers and other men around, I didn’t feel safe in that building. One worker told me renovations had been going on for over a year. Judging by the reviews, they may have been going on for years. The place seems to be permanently filthy. The hallways had rubbish in them, and they could do with a hoover. This ‘hotel’ shouldn’t be open to the public. The pictures speak for themselves. Avoid it like the plague. A pub around the corner told us the Falcon was the worst place to stay and said the owner was letting it run down. I can see why. I left instead of staying.

Free parking was handy, and the hotel was very close to Uxbridge town. The room heating didn’t work, though I was lucky enough to get moved to another room. An alarm kept going off during the night and disrupted my sleep. The hotel felt like a construction site, and I can’t see why it’s operating in those conditions. I wouldn’t recommend staying until the building work is finished.
