The staff were superb, friendly without being intrusive and always helpful. Even a couple of random requests, like asking for a pint of milk for my protein shake, were no trouble at all. The food in the bar was very good, and over four nights we tried several lunch and dinner dishes as well as breakfast each morning. We were happy with the quality and the cost. Our premium room was spacious, with a desk, table, two seater sofa, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The king size bed and sofa both faced a large window looking out to sea, with the cliffs and needles in the distance. The shower was good, though the pressure wasn’t quite as strong as I’d hoped. We arrived late Thursday afternoon when it was quiet, then the bar and restaurant got busy a couple of hours later. There was still plenty of seating, as the place is large. We had a really nice stay and would recommend it. We’ll be back with our dogs, since the clifftop walk opposite the hotel is perfect for them.

We came for an early evening meal rather than staying over. The staff were lovely throughout, and answered our menu questions in a way that gave us confidence ordering for our coeliac family. The loaded tacos, chips, baked camembert, sausage and mash were all GF and tasty. The kitchen brought meat instead of the veggie order by mistake, but the staff handled it brilliantly and were more concerned about it than we were. They’re genuinely lovely people, and it’s a great spot. We visited after dark, though I bet the huge beer garden is great during the day.

The Winter combo was incredible, and I feel honoured to have been among the first to try it. My mum and I both ordered it for dinner, and it was the most amazing meal I’ve ever tasted. The vegetables were spot on, the pork belly melted in my mouth with beautiful flavour, and the beef and yorkshire pudding were divine. It was a huge meal for just £23, well worth the price. We hadn’t been for years, but popping in this afternoon turned out to be a great decision. The scenery looking over chale was stunning, and the pub felt warm and welcoming inside. The staff were polite and friendly to us and our two huskeys. I think the manager was called Alex, and he was humble and polite. We’ll definitely go again when we return to The Island and recommend it to everyone. Compliments to the staff and chef.

We’ve been here five times in two weeks and brought family and friends along. The staff are amazing, so helpful and friendly, and the food is tasty with good sized portions. We’ve tried pies, roasts, burgers, puddings and plenty more.

There’s loads of space to eat and drink, with lots of wooden beams, and the staff welcomed us warmly and couldn’t do enough for us. The menu has plenty of hearty options, but be sure to check the special board. The food was first class and the portions were good. Last night we had a full rack of ribs, and tonight it was the chair style pork medallions. Both times the food was on the table within 10 minutes of ordering. It’s also a hotel, with more than anyone could need. What an absolute gem, and totally worth the trip from Hampshire to the island.
