Breakfast was a highlight, with fresh fruit, pastries and local dishes to choose from. The hotel was close to shops, restaurants and major attractions, but still quiet at night. Our room had a lovely view, felt modern and was spotless. The bed was really comfortable, and housekeeping kept things immaculate. The staff welcomed us warmly, and check-in was quick and easy. We stayed for two nights in October 2025 and had a wonderful time. We’d happily return on our next trip.

I only needed a hot shower after my boiler broke down, so I didn’t have breakfast, though the cooked breakfasts looked great. The owner was friendly and it was good value. My room was clean and quiet, with a hairdryer, safe, tea, coffee and biscuits. Recommend.

Stan was a top man. He got up early to cook breakfast and even offered us a lift to a local Italian restaurant for dinner. We felt very welcome. There’s parking on site, and it’s easy to get to the bus or metro. The location works well for starting or finishing Hadrians Wall.

Our bedroom was huge, and the bed was very comfortable. It’s a peaceful place to stay, with free parking, and convenient for both Newcastle and Tynemouth. Stan, the owner, was extremely friendly, and so was his hound. We’ll definitely come back.

The breakfast in the morning was very good, and it’s a nice, friendly hotel. We also got some insider photo tips for Newcastle, which helped us decide where to walk. Thanks to the suggestion, we went past the Dog and parrot. We were also told how to get to the ferry while avoiding a possible traffic jam on the main road to the quays. Definitely worth spending a night or more at the Dorset arms.
