Breakfast was tasty, filling, and had plenty of choice, and our room was clean and comfortable. The staff made us feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We loved the old character of the building, especially alongside the cosy bar and restaurant. It’s a handy base for Wareham and Swanage, with Corfe Castle visible from the hotel and a five-minute walk away. There’s free parking behind the hotel. We did hear a little road noise in the morning, but that’s understandable with the original windows and central location. We had a lovely stay and would happily come back.

The private dining room opened onto a terrace with gorgeous views of Corfe Castle, and the kids loved watching the Swanage steam train run along the bottom of the garden. We had a family celebration there on a Saturday afternoon, in the large dining room at the back of the pub. The owner made sure we were well looked after, and the staff were so helpful. They put together a delicious buffet that looked great too. A lovely space for an event.

The mix roast is a must, especially with that perfect cauliflower cheese. We went to The Bankes Arms with friends for Sunday lunch and all agreed it’s our new favourite roast spot. Even with the place busy, the atmosphere, service, and food were all amazing. 10/10, we loved it.

Lovely pub, and the local ale was kept exceptionally well. Service was nice despite it being busy. I’d have stayed much longer if I’d had the time.

The cheese and onion baguette was lovely and came out quickly. I stopped in for lunch at this popular place, and there are lots of local and other ales on tap. The baguette and chips cost £18.50, so £6 just for a bowl of chips felt a bit steep. In better weather, I’m sure people would be outside enjoying the sea views.
