The Columbia

The room was clean and warm, with basic facilities, and it was handy to have parking and be able to get back to the room after the restaurant had closed. The noise was the main problem. It's right by a busy road, you could hear plenty from outside and inside, and one night a couple shouted for hours. The walls are very thin. The bathroom heating didn't work, and the bed and bedding weren't very comfortable or warm. I ended up using the spare pillow and duvet from the extra single bed.

Breakfast was amazing, a 10/10 for quality from someone who's picky about it. Our family room was just right for a day at the track, with a spotless bathroom, clean room, comfy beds, and tea, coffee and toiletries provided. We were there to visit santa pod raceway, just over 15 minutes away. The property is tired and dated, but the service was great. We'd definitely book here again if we need a hotel for santa pod.

We got a warm welcome, and the room was clean with a very comfortable bed, so I slept OK. The bathroom was spacious and the towels were clean, though there were huge cobwebs above the shower. The hotel is dated, and there were empty cans and rubbish all around the entrance. I was woken at 3.10 a.m. by the fire alarm. I also wasn't keen on the room being cleaned while we were out without anyone asking first. There are amenities nearby, and it's within walking distance of my family. We didn't have breakfast, and for what we paid, it wasn't worth it. I won't stay here again.

The owners were friendly during our two-night stay and seemed keen to put things right, though I imagine changes will take time since the previous owners appear to have neglected parts of the hotel. The new management had started three months earlier. The decor in the rooms is outdated, but they were clean and the bed was comfortable. It was quiet and we slept without any problems. We enjoyed breakfast and had a comfortable stay. We'll come back in future and hope to see what changes the new owners have made.
