A Maiden Rest

We spent four nights here and felt welcome throughout. His wife makes the best breakfast in Weymouth, honestly, and there was enough to keep you going all day. Thanks for such a lovely stay. I’ll book with them again. God bless you both until I see you next time.

Waking up to that bay view each morning was lovely. The room was large and very clean, and Dean made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived. Breakfast was delicious and piping hot when it reached the table. We’ll come back as soon as we can, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The WiFi was the one small drawback: it barely worked in our room, though it was good in the dining room, where staff were happy for us to sit and use it at any time. We had a lovely stay otherwise and would gladly book again, even though we usually like trying new places. We were there for three nights with our nine-year-old grandson, in a family room on the first floor at the back. It was spacious, with a double bed and two singles so he could choose, and there was plenty of room for all of us. The stairs in the big old Victorian-style house are wide and shallow, so I don’t think they’d be an issue unless someone had quite limited mobility. The back may also be quieter than the front, which overlooks the sea. The room was nicely decorated with lovely pictures and paintings. There was a kettle, mugs, tea, coffee and little milk portions on a tray. The bathroom had a shower, plenty of toiletries replenished daily, lots of towels and good storage. Breakfast was just right, with a good choice of English breakfast items cooked how you wanted, plus cereal, toast and fruit. The staff were friendly, professional and courteous. The location is great, right across from the promenade and a beautiful mostly sandy beach that slopes gently into the sea. Weymouth has the usual seaside fun, with fairground rides, donkey rides, ice cream stalls and fish and chip shops right by the beach. A lovely B&B.

We arrived on Monday for a family funeral the next day and needed a room for one night. They were accommodating and the price was good. Everything was clean, and the room was comfortable, though we found the bed a bit too springy. Breakfast was great, with generous portions and plenty of choice. We’d definitely stay again and recommend it.
