The spa saved this for me. The jacuzzi was genuinely lovely and beautifully designed, and it was the only place where I felt cleaner after touching the surfaces. Everywhere else seemed grimy. I’m pretty sure the hotel hadn’t been cleaned since the 80s. The “retro” arcade was one sad, broken machine in a dark corner, while darts cost £30 an hour. At that price I expected a referee in a tuxedo, but all I got was a lighter wallet. The carpet and sofa stains are so noticeable they deserve names of their own. Karaoke was fun, if you can enjoy the smell of a damp French wine cellar, vintage mould and tables sticky enough to hold your drink. The lift is tiny and creaks like a thousand ghosts, more a vertical coffin with sound effects than an elevator. Great for bacteria enthusiasts and people who like expensive darts. Everyone else might want to stick to the jacuzzi and wear a hazmat suit until they reach the water.

We loved every minute of our stay this weekend, and the whole family’s big annual Christmas party was another success, thanks in large part to the staff. Josh, Tom, Matthew and Ricky were among them, but every team member was fun, friendly and helpful. The food was delicious and the service amazing. Our room was big and clean, with a lovely sea-front view. The town was only a short walk away, with plenty of shops, arcades and pubs. I hope we’re back next year and this becomes our regular place. A huge thank you to everyone ❤️

The location near the seafront was the only good part. We paid £170 for two nights, plus £20 for parking, and had to leave our car keys at reception, which we didn’t like. At first they put us in a tiny room that was boiling hot, with a window that wouldn’t open. After we complained, we were moved to a room that was supposed to be a super king, but it had two single beds pushed together. It was uncomfortable and left both our backs hurting. We’d never stay there again.

We enjoyed dinner and the cocktails, and our room had a fantastic sea view. The Jubilee has lovely facilities, but some basics need attention: the shower wasn’t great and the towels were very small. We also didn’t particularly enjoy breakfast. It’s a nice hotel, though some of its amenities could use work.

The hotel has plenty to do, from a great restaurant and bar to a spa and games rooms, and I was very happy with my stay. James greeted me when I arrived, professional, cheerful and very knowledgeable. After I mentioned I’d hurt my back, he upgraded me to a room with a bath, but there was no plug for it. He came to help again and moved me to another room in the annex, which I was very grateful for. I was impressed from arrival right through to getting home after checkout. Thanks again to all the staff.
