Our family holiday felt more like a holiday from hell. The room they moved me to smelled like a men’s urinal, so I refused it and my son ended up sleeping on a mattress on the floor. They cancelled my room but not my kids’ room. The toilet blocked every time it was used, the sink wouldn’t drain unless we held it up with a spoon, and we had to wear shoes in the filthy shower. The bedding was stained, and a curtain rail came right out of the wall, narrowly missing my son. Breakfast was awful: half a mushroom, one sausage, about ten beans and one piece of bacon. The bread wasn’t toasted, then went cold while we waited for butter. There was no Wi-Fi, despite them saying they had it. This place should be shut down. I’d never recommend it, and they should refund us or pay me to stay.

The staff were so friendly, especially the man at reception. I didn’t catch his name, but he’s a real credit to the hotel. My partner and I enjoyed it so much that we added two more nights. We had a lovely stay and would really recommend a sea front room. We’ll be back soon.

The facilities and plumbing all need a lot of attention, and the rooms need updating with new mattresses and quilts. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel for elderly people.

We booked at the last minute for a weekend away because the place was dog friendly. Some bad reviews had made me worry, but we needn’t have. The staff were lovely, warm and welcoming, and Mark was especially great with our dogs. They even got a sausage at breakfast. The room was perfectly adequate for a couple of nights. The bathroom had a damp smell, though that’s to be expected in an old Victorian building. We’d definitely stay again.

Breakfast was a delicious Full English, and we were able to take half a sausage for our dog. We had a lovely break in Weymouth at The Leam hotel, one of the nicest we’ve had in a while. Our refurbished room was lovely, with a beach view right from the bed. Vicky at reception was wonderful when we arrived early, and recommended a great dog friendly restaurant. We spent the rest of the evening relaxing in the ridiculously comfy lounge, looking out at the iconic Clock Tower.
