Norseman Hotel

It was lovely and warm inside while the weather outside was awful. We had a great lunch, and the waiters were lovely. Highly recommended.

We chose this place because it allows dogs. They can come into the lounge and bedroom, but not the bar. Our room was on the ground floor, with a nice big bed and enough room for the dog’s bed and bowls. There’s a reasonably sized car park beside the main building. A ramp leads to the main doors, though they’re manual. Breakfast was a self service buffet with the usual hot and cold options. A polite young woman greeted us, took our drinks order and showed us where we could sit. The food was cooked well, hot and tasty. The bar closed at 22:00. The barman said there was no need to stay open late, even until 23:00 on a weekday, though at weekends it might stay open until 23:00 depending on how busy it was. It was a nice stay, but there are a few things they could sort out. The bathroom had shampoo and body wash on a shelf behind the toilet, with nowhere to put or hang them in the shower, so I had to balance a bottle on the fittings. Parts of the bar carpet are frayed, and I caught my foot on it leaving the bar. I only stumbled a little, but it could have been worse if I or someone older had fallen. Also, an email said there’d be a dog bed, bowls and treats in the room, but none of those were there.

The place felt a little dated, but it was still a really nice hotel. Our room was spacious and comfortable, the staff were welcoming and friendly, and everything was very clean. The food was amazing and fairly priced. I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone staying in Wick.

I left something behind in my room by mistake and emailed the Norseman the next day from another hotel, 300 km away. They found it quickly. Since I was heading overseas in two days, Eilidh @ the Norseman went way beyond what she had to do and mailed it to my country. She sent me the tracking number and checked in later. Couldn’t have asked for better service. Thanks so much, Eilidh, you rock !!!
