We booked a table for 6pm on Sunday 28th December 25. We hadn’t eaten here in years and thought we’d give it another go. The starters were okay, but the main courses were awful and only just warm. The steak pie was so salty I couldn’t eat it, the fries were awful, and the chicken burger had no flavour. We told the staff, who said they’d pass it on. The golf hotel is a nice setting, but we won’t eat here again.

The staff were good, but the food service needs attention. The chef needs to learn a few things about getting food out fresh. The room itself was clean and tidy, though the shower pressure was low and the temperature jumped from hot to cold without warning. It’s an old hotel that needs upgrading, but for what you pay, it’ll do.

I love that the hotel, like the village, seems unchanged in over 60 years. The decor is old-fashioned, but my room was huge and spotless. Everyone on staff was friendly, and the food and drinks were very good and reasonably priced. I’ll be back.

We had dinner here twice, and both meals were very good. The room was nice, with bright white bed linen and towels, and there was a great shower and good-quality biscuits.

Ken the manager is mint, such a nice man, and the bar staff were pleasant too. We enjoyed fantastic bar meals, and the woman serving breakfast was friendly, helpful and lovely. My brother and I slept well in room 2, with its comfortable single beds, spacious room and large bathroom. The hotel’s interior and exterior would both benefit from a full refurbishment. It would make a massive difference.
