The Mount Hotel

Really disappointing from what’s supposed to be the most prestigious hotel in Wolverhampton. They coldly refused to accept a birthday gift voucher for a luxury afternoon tea, even though it was only four days past its six-month expiry, which was tucked into small print at the bottom. If you’re giving one as a present, make sure the recipient knows about that short expiry.

The location was nice, and the rooms were clean and comfortable, but the place didn’t feel welcoming. It came across more as an events venue than a hotel. We were asked to pay extra to check in at 2pm, even though our room was ready, or wait in the lobby until 3pm. On a weekday, breakfast ended at 9:30am, which I think is unreasonably early. I asked for a flat white when offered coffee and was told that would cost extra. Then the fire alarm went off at 7am because of poor bathroom ventilation in the room below mine, and they couldn’t switch it off for 30 minutes.

The staff were really friendly, and I liked the decor. We stopped in for a quick lunch, and the food was nice. Well recommended. I’ll stay overnight here soon.

Everything was clean, and the food was good. The hotel has lovely surroundings, and the staff were attentive, helpful and smiling. We stayed with the family for my wife’s birthday. My one small concern was that the rooms felt a little small for the price, but all in all, I’d definitely recommend it 👌
