Charlene at the bar made me feel so welcome while I was travelling alone for work, and the staff were amazing. The room was cosy and comfy. Travelodge is easy to find and perfectly central. Brilliant experience!

For the price, this was very good and I’d happily stay again. The room was basic but clean, with most of what I expected and needed. It wasn’t clearly signposted, so finding the place was an issue, and there was often nobody at the front desk.

The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, and being right in the city centre made it easy to get anywhere. What really made the restaurant for us was Karen. Whenever she was there, everything felt better. She managed things so well, kept smiling at everyone, and brought our food out quickly. She was friendly and professional each time we ate there, and clearly cares about her work. We missed her when she wasn’t working. Karen and staff like her make the place special and make us want to return.

The bed was comfortable, but the room wasn’t fully clean, and the shower was pretty miserable. The location is very central. I paid £12 to park overnight in the adjacent NCP. I didn’t see anyone at all during my stay. Monday night was very quiet until the fire alarm went off twice at 10.30am.

The central location is the only real positive, though parking costs £12 a day. I’ve stayed before and had a much better experience, so this visit was especially disappointing. Standards have clearly dropped. At first, things seemed fine for a Travelodge, but the staff member on duty during the day couldn’t tell us where the evening entrance was or how to get to our room. Once we found the fourth floor, a strong marijuana smell hit us just past the key-fob door. The corridor was in poor shape, with stained carpets and food waste outside several rooms. Our room wasn’t any better. There were noticeable stains on the floor that looked like blood, and the bathroom smelled strongly of urine. Fold-out beds had been set up for no apparent reason. We couldn’t even open the window for fresh air because nearby extractor fans made a constant loud humming noise.
